Beauty Salon Comes To Doomed Avenue U Strip Mall

Arthur Borko snapped this photo of the soon-to-open Dream Catchers Beauty Salon, the latest entry to debut at the otherwise bleak “Ave U Plaza” at 3102 Avenue U.

We hope we’re wrong when we say it’s not such a good spot, but the history of the plaza has not been a pretty one. Since completing construction some time in 2009, stores have opened and shuttered many times, including – but not limited to – True Perfection Kitchen & Bath Designs, Rosco’s Doggy Day Care, and It’s All About Me Now.

It looks like the only place that’s managed to stick around that strip mall is the Wine & Spirits shop. Perhaps they’re fueled by the shattered dreams of would-be small business owners…

Regardless, we sincerely do hope we’re wrong, and look forward to welcoming Dream Catchers to the neighborhood.

  1. The wine store has been through at least 2 owners that I know off. The nail salon is the only one that’s doing great. Was the first one to open up there and is not lacking in business.

  2. Wish them luck in their business. This is gonna help people find jobs. Hopefully more businesses will open, this will help all the unemployed. I’ve been working in a beauty salon for some time. Planning to put up one in the future.

  3. i hope this place fails.. its going to be another thing to drive Russians towards the area (which we definitely do not need). Their menu is a JOKE and their services are overpriced.

  4. Walked in on a whim today and the place is BEAUTIFUL! I was extremely happy with my haircut and didn’t mind the free champagne either! Will DEFINITELY be coming back!

  5. 10% off discount so i got my hair colored today lol. really impressed by the service, also had some champagne and cookies too lol!
