BayFest 2011 Planning Meeting This Wednesday

Preparations for the next BayFest will be held in the Comfort Inn meeting room at 3218 Emmons Avenue this Wednesday March 16 at 8:20 p.m.

This meeting will provide the opportunity to help prepare for this year’s 20th Annual BayFest this May, and President Steve Barrison said he expects to make some big announcements this year.

Already announced is that Vince Martell of Vanilla Fudge will not be playing this year, after performing at the event for, well, for a really long time. Barrison has also announced that Ticket to Ride, a well-known Beatles tribute band, will be playing, and they’re also looking to have music and entertainment along all 10 piers – a feat they haven’t done since their 10 year anniversary!

So they’ll need a lot of hands to make it a success. Come to the planning meeting tomorrow and make some new friends in building a community event.

  1. What a negative promotion. “Vince Martell will NOT be playing”! Bad move. The problem was not that he WAS playing, merely that more participants, perhaps doing music in various genres were needed.

  2. To be fair, BIG is not going around promoting it as “Vince Martell will NOT be playing.” It’s a fact we highlighted since many of our readers seemed disappointed/tired of having the same act year after year. No disrespect intended towards the Fudge.

  3. It is unfortunate that it had to come to that at all. I think merely augmenting Martell’s participation with that of others would have sufficed.
