Attend Third Root’s 5th Anniversary Gala September 28
Happy 5th birthday, Third Root! The community health center will be celebrating half a decade of cooperative healing justice with an anniversary gala at the Irondale Ensemble Project (85 S Oxford Street on the corner of Lafayette Avenue) this Saturday, September 28 from 7-11pm.
The event, emceed by Transformative Change’s Reverend angel Kyodo Williams, will include:
- Dinner catered by I Love Food
- A performance by Urban Bushwomen
- Hip Hop Yoga with Roopa Singh and a DJ’d dance party
- A ceremony with speakers Maura Bairley of Move to End Violence and Pultizer Prize finalist and Yale University African American Studies chair Elizabeth Alexander, honoring the Center for Anti-Violence Education and Columbia University professor Alondra Nelson
Tickets for the gala are available on a sliding scale from $25-100. If you can’t be there Saturday night, make sure to check out their Hip Hop Yoga event, Dharma talk with Reverend angel Kyodo Williams, and self defense class with the Center for Anti-Violence Education leading up to the anniversary.
