Attend A Vision Zero Meeting Next Tuesday At Brooklyn College
Car Accident at Ave H/Westminster

Next Tuesday, April 29, the DOT, NYPD, and representatives for Mayor de Blasio’s Vision Zero campaign will be holding a meeting at the Brooklyn College Student Center (1 Campus Road on the corner of E 27th Street, second floor) to discuss the changes Vision Zero hopes to bring to our area, and neighbors are invited. From 6:30-8:30pm, attendees can learn about particulars of the plan both near us and citywide, and can discuss street projects and ask about problematic (or potentially problematic) roads.

Vision Zero aims to eliminate traffic deaths across New York City, and could prevent future tragedies like neighbor Ngozi Agbim’s death 10 months ago tomorrow. We know you’re worried about Coney Island Avenue and Cortelyou, but the last traffic forum held by Councilmember Eugene was announced on too short notice or scheduled too soon after your workday. We know you’re perplexed by the results of that Community District 14 traffic study, and concerned about U-turning cab drivers, nonsensical truck routes, and a lack of police enforcement. We know you can’t stand speeding drivers, signal-ignoring cyclists, and pedestrians who stand in the street while waiting to cross. We suspect if you live on a corner, you may have had a car run up on your lawn. So come to the meeting next week, hear what city representatives have to say and voice your feelings on it, and see what scary local roads we can change for the better.
