Attempted Break-In on E 16th Today Follows Burglary Arrests Earlier This Week

A neighbor has reported an attempted break-in this morning on Cortelyou and East 16th Street at around 10:30 am. The neighbor said she had no description to offer, “just black fingers over the window.”

This comes just after a report from the 70th Precinct that on Tuesday, October 2, they arrested several men in Ditmas Park for burglaries in the area, including three men who were arrested in August for a series of home burglaries before being released on bail. Neighbors reported suspicious activities in our area at the beginning of this week (including seeing the same van present for previous burglaries) to the police, who were able to act on that intelligence. The connection between this arrest and previous crimes was made because of DNA evidence gathered over the summer, said the NYPD.

The 70th Precinct reminds neighbors to call 911 if you see any activity that seems suspicious.
