If Smorgasburg’s Sunday appearances don’t whet your appetite for eats in Prospect Park, then get ready to feast on coffee, pastries, and more at another new spot inside the park.

Tip of the Tongue Café, an off-shoot of a restaurant nearby in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, is now open in the Prospect Park Picnic House. They’re serving up a menu of espresso and coffee drinks, house-made pastries including cakes, cookies, and breakfast items (they tease us by mentioning a bacon-gruyere scone!), and lunch dishes like sandwiches (their signature prosciutto on Cuban baguette, for instance), salads, and quiche.

“The Alliance is committed to improving amenities for all Park visitors, including high-quality food and drink options,” said Sue Donoghue, president of the Prospect Park Alliance, in a statement. “We are delighted to partner with a beloved local business on this new café, which joins our growing list of food attractions, including the year-round Bluestone Café at Lakeside, and seasonal events such as Smorgasburg and the Food Truck Rally at Grand Army Plaza.”

Unfortunately, it’ll only be there for a short initial run — the cafe will be open from 8am-4pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 8am-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays through October 31. But the Park says the plan is to re-open the cafe in the spring.
