Alleged Attempted PS 139 Abduction This Morning Turns Out To Be Misunderstanding
We got word from a neighbor about a possible attempted kidnapping near PS 139, located on Rugby Road at Cortelyou Road, this morning, but the 70th Precinct says parents shouldn’t be concerned.
Initially, police say, a 10-year-old girl told cops she was walking to school when two men in a black van grabbed her. Upon further discussion with officers, however, the girl in question has explained that she was actually approached by a single, teenaged male who asked her a question, then walked away without touching her or attempting to coerce her to travel anywhere with him.
Police say video footage from the area supports the girl’s updated statement. So to everyone who heard about the incident earlier today, we just wanted to provide some clarification. Parents in the area don’t need to worry.
