After 17 Days, No Cause Of Death For Dead Body In Bay

After 17 days, the medical examiner’s office still has not declared a cause of death for an unidentified body found floating in Sheepshead Bay on May 21.

Sergeant Doyle of the 61st Precinct Community Affairs Unit told members of the Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Association on Monday that the precinct’s detectives are working on the case. The man does not fit any descriptions of a missing person in our area or any of the other jurisdictions that they’ve reached out to.

According to Doyle, the victim is a white male in his 40s or 50s. He was found well-dressed in slacks, button down shirt and vest. The body was fished out of the waters near Shore Boulevard and Exeter Street in Manhattan Beach.

The officer also confirmed that the man was found with five-pound weights tied to him, but said that it is not officially deemed a homicide until the medical examiner rules on it.
