Adoptable Animal Of The Week: Dottie
We first shared the story of Dottie, a dog found abandoned near 17th Street and 7th Avenue, back in February. After discovering that all of the area shelters were full, neighbors Ashley and Brett Affrunti didn’t think twice before bringing the neglected dog into their home.
Dottie was in rough shape, with a number of worrisome medical conditions, but thanks to generous donations on the couple’s Go Fund Me page, Ashley and Brett have been able to give Dottie the attention she needed, as they slowly but surely nursed the sweet pup back to health.
“We weren’t sure if she could fully recover from the years of neglect,” the couple recently wrote on their Facebook page, “but thanks to everyone who shared her story and donated we’ve been able to give her the best care possible and now she’s almost as good as new!”
“Now that we have gotten the green light from the vet,” they continued, “we will be really begin searching for Dottie’s forever home! Please continue to spread the word! Getting Dottie healthy again was just half the battle, the other half will be finding her the perfect home!”
