What: Ahead of the holiday on Monday, celebrate Dr. King’s legacy with readings and performances by young poets and the student musicians of the Noel Pointer Foundation.

Annie Mok: Screentests

Where: Bergen Street Comics, 470 Bergen Street
What: Cartoonist Annie Mok reads from her new work, Screentests. She’ll be joined by Rebecca Mock, Kat Mukai, Laura Knetzger, and O. Horvath. A Q&A and signing will follow the readings.

Musicwood Screening

What: Due to a logging practice known as clear-cutting, the spruce tree that the acoustic guitar has been manufactured from for hundreds of years is on the brink of disappearing. In this documentary, owners of the top guitar makers unite with Greenpeace in the hope of finding a sustainable solution.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Programs In Prospect Park
When: Monday, January 20
Where: Prospect Park
What: The park is open and hosting several events, including a number of free activities from 12-4pm, like Nature on the Go at the Audubon Center and a community conversation about King at the Lefferts Historic House. The zoo will also be open from 10-4:30pm, and there’s a special program for young tennis pros at the Tennis Center.
