The fire was called in at 4:30am, according to the NYPD. Twelve fire trucks and 60 firefighters responded to the scene, said an FDNY spokesperson. The fire was extinguished an hour later, and Harry was discovered in the home.

Ambulances rushed Harry to Kings County Hospital, but it was too late to save his life. The cause of his death is currently unknown. A second victim was taken to Maimonides Hospital with minor injuries, said an FDNY spokesperson.

By 9:30am this morning, investigators could be seen poking around on the top floor at 106 Marlborough Road. When a distraught-looking woman emerged from the front door and quietly denied to comment, concerned neighbors rushed to the woman’s defense, verbally shooing reporters and bystanders to the opposite side of the street.

While the origin and cause of the fire is still unknown, flames decimated the basement of the private home, according to the FDNY. The investigation is ongoing, and has not been labeled suspicious, said cops.

We extend our deepest sympathy to family, friends, and neighbors of Abiel Harry.
