It’s starting to cool down, but before the real cold weather set in, there are some great ways to explore the great outdoors of Brooklyn! A few spots are hosting fun, family-friendly events, and it’s your chance to make the most of a gorgeous autumn with the kids.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Nature Exploration
When: Saturdays & Sundays through December, 9am-12pm
Where: Audubon Center, Prospect Park
What: Expanded nature programming continues this month, when kids can explore outdoor play-based activities (10am-11am); try out a read-to-go nature kit (10am-12pm); learn how to identify birds and use field guides (12-1pm); or take a birdwatching tour with pros (12-1pm).
How Much: Free!

Free Family Days
Where: Wyckoff House Museum, 5816 Clarendon Road, Canarsie
When: Saturdays, 11am-3pm: November 21 & December 19
What: If you haven’t been out to the oldest house in Brooklyn, fall is a great time to check it out, and they do it up on their free family days with engaging, kid-friendly tours, hands-on activities, scavenger hunts, and more. They recommend you come before 2pm if you’ve got kids under 10, as that’s when they do activities geared more toward the younger set.

Salt Marsh Exploration Hike
When: Sunday, November 22, 11am
Where: Marine Park Salt Marsh, Avenue U & East 33rd Street
What: The Marine Park Salt Marsh is a cool, little-explored area in southern Brooklyn that is worth the trip for this guided tour, when you’re learn about all its interesting plants and some really cool birds.
